This explains the "new" faces and a slight lack of quality. Herbie did in fact get a short lived TV series collectively called "Herbie The Matchmaker" in the early 1980s. This TV series did actually get Dean Jones back to reprise his role of Jim Douglas. This film is considered the last true (just) Herbie feature film ever made.
